Each person and their claim is handled professionally and their unique situation is always considered.

Sofie* Makendi had been a pedestrian crossing a street when she was suddenly hit by a motor vehicle. She was 27 years old at the time and about to experience a major loss. The loss of her left leg.

Before the accident Sofie had been healthy with no serious illnesses or physical or psychological conditions. But since the accident she has experienced excruciating pain, depression, memory problems, aggression and various other difficulties.

She had been working as a Domestic Worker at the time of the accident. Her duties were purely physical in nature with her spending 100% of her time at work standing or walking.  With her leg amputated, she could no longer work as a Domestic Worker. She has been unemployed since the accident occurred in 2011 as she can no longer perform the physical tasks required of a Domestic Worker due to her left leg amputation.

Sofie had also been saving money every month in order to study further in the future. Unfortunately, due to her unemployment since the accident she used all her savings to live day-to-day.

de Broglio Inc met with Sofie and were entrusted to represent her on her behalf against the RAF. They did this was pride and expertise and settled the claim for what they believed was fair and justifiable given Sofie’s circumstances and impairments.

The matter was settled on 7 November 2013 at the Johannesburg High Court for the amount of R1, 387, 964.00.
