Leaders of the pack, de Broglio Attorneys, successfully settled a loss of support case against the Road Accident Fund (RAF) for a whooping R10,072,126.00. This settlement amount is phenomenal and is the result of the legal team at de Broglio Attorneys putting their all into the claim, ensuring that their client received the ultimate compensation for the loss of her husband in a motor vehicle accident.
Lucy Steenkamp*, mother of 4, was suddenly left widowed when her beloved husband was killed in a car accident. He had been driving along a street when another motor vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with him.
Lucy approached de Broglio Attorneys for advice on a possible claim against the RAF. de Broglio Attorneys advised her that she would have a valid claim against the RAF and that they would be happy to assist her in making her claim. She immediately hired the law firm and they began working on her claim.
The de Broglio legal team who handled Lucy’s claim attended court with her on the day of her trial. The RAF tried to postpone the matter again but they had failed to obtain a forensic auditor to go through the deceased’s financial statements. They offered a small interim payment which de Broglio Attorneys refused and proceeded to court again on the next court date.
The matter was eventually settled in the South Gauteng High Court for the wonderful amount of R10,072,136.00.
The attorney who handled the claim was delighted with the result and said, “It was a fantastic result. The firm’s job is always made easier once financial documentation pertaining to the deceased’s business is furnished. If a client works hand in hand with furnishing an attorney with the required documentation then the results are good and the client will always be happy with the results. I am delighted with the result especially since the matter had been to court repeatedly. This was the 4th trial date.”
